Cat How to Draw

Step 1: Let’s draw the basic shapes and lines, applying a gentle pressure on the pencil. Start with a large oval for the body, then draw a smaller one for the head. Divide the head oval in two halves with a vertical line.

Step 2: Draw two curved lines on each side of the head oval — these will be the legs. Each line ends with a small oval. Draw a hooked line for the tail on the top of the body oval.

Step 3: Now we start drawing the contours, pressing on the pencil normally. Outline the cat’s face first. The lifted brows protrude beyond the basic oval. Draw them as you would draw the top part of a heart. The bottom contour also curves outward in the middle, forming a chin. Mark the fur on the cheeks with toothed lines.

Step 4: Outline the body, following the basic oval. Notice that the contours are toothed and the teeth slant downward. Try to vary the size of the teeth and the distance between them.

Step 5: Draw the legs and mark the bends of the bottom parts with short curved lines.

Step 6: Outline the feet, following the basic ovals. Their bottom contour is almost flat and lies on the same line as the chin. Mark the toes with some short lines, curving toward the center.

Step 7: Now let’s draw the triangular ears. Their contours curve outward at the bottom and the top parts are pointed.

Step 8: Add the curved tail. Its end is thicker than its bottom.

Step 9: Draw two large oval eyes close to each other. They are almost closed with the lids — the cat is sleepy and lazy.

Step 10: Just a few details to add: a small triangle with smooth corners for the nose, two curved lines for the cheeks and some dashes of different length for the whiskers. Erase all the basic shapes and lines before coloring.

Step 11: Color the cat with three shades of beige. The head, the feet and the tail are lighter than the rest of the body. The eyelids are the lightest. The inside of the ears is pink. Trace over the contours again if they got blurred after coloring. The cat is complete!
