Lion’s Head How to Draw

Step 1: Let’s draw the basic shapes and lines, applying gentle pressure on the pencil. Start with two ovals for the face. Divide the face in two halves with a vertical line and draw two curved lines inside the top oval of the face.

Step 2: Draw a large circle for the mane and two small ovals for the ears. The face ovals should be in the middle of the mane oval.

Step 3: Now we start drawing the contours, pressing on the pencil normally. Draw the contour of the mane with a toothed line. A small crest of fur sticks out a bit оn the top of the head. And leave the ears out!

Step 4: Draw the contour of the face with four half-ovals. The top line is almost straight, but slightly curves downward.

Step 5: Now indicate the ears with two rounded triangles. Then draw the inner edges of the ears, making them a bit furry.

Step 6: Draw the jaw; it is strong and massive and almost square in shape. Then draw the nose; it starts from the bottom basic line. The nose itself resembles a shamrock with rounded top.

Step 7: Draw the eyes; their corners lie on the two basic lines. The pupils are closer to the top lid. In the top corners, draw small triangles for patches of light.

Step 8: Now draw the brows; the parts closest to the nose are the thickest. Make their top parts a bit furry and add some fur to the top of the nasal bridge.

Step 9: Add some more toothed lines below the ears, around the face and at the bottom of the mane – like a beard. Erase all the basic shapes and lines before coloring.

Step 10: And now for the most fun part – let’s color the picture! The mane is dark-brown, the face and the ears are beige and the brows are light-beige. The eyes are yellow, but their top and bottom corners should be left white because they sparkle in the light. You may add some shading inside the ears. Trace over the contours again if they got blurred after coloring. The lion’s head is complete!
